About this course
This short course covers the nutritional needs of the people you support, how to spot and escalate malnutrition and dehydration risk, use of screening tools such as MUST, modified diets and IDDSI descriptors, food safety basics and person-centred mealtime support. It is written for care and support workers in domiciliary, residential and supported living services.
What you will be able to do
- Describe the nutrition and hydration needs of people in care settings
- Recognise the signs of malnutrition and dehydration and escalate appropriately
- Support modified diets and thickened fluids safely using IDDSI descriptors
- Provide dignified, person-centred mealtime support
