About this course
This short course introduces the counselling skills used every day in health and social care: active listening, reflecting, summarising, open questioning and holding boundaries. It is skills-based rather than a counselling qualification, and is written for care workers, support workers and team leaders who want to have safer, more helpful conversations with the people they support and with colleagues.
What you will be able to do
- Use active listening, reflection and summarising in everyday practice
- Ask open questions that help a person explore their own situation
- Recognise and hold professional boundaries in supportive conversations
- Respond safely when a conversation raises risk or safeguarding concerns
